RESEARCH: REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

In developing the background of the study (review of related literature and studies), begin with a brief introduction, followed with a thorough discussion of the literature. avoid exhausive historical review. This is intended to limit the number of references to be included in the study to the relevant ones.

The review is developmental in nature arranged by topic headings. Topics discussed observe coherence and continuity in the flow of ideas. Cross-referencing is recommended, which means that the writer or the researcher compared and contrasts the thrust of the current work to the previous studies done and recognizes the precedence of the work of others.

in summerizing earlier studies, include only and give emphasis on pertinent findings, relevant methods and major conclusions. Avoid nonessential details.

Reviewed literatures are classified as local literature (if printed in the Philippines), Foreign Literatures (if Printed in other countries) and online sources or Websites. Revised related studies are focused on the findings of unpublished thesis and Dissertations.

As Cited in the Research manual (American Psychological Association (APA) editorial style for Thesis writing) prepared by the research and Publication Center of saintPaul University - Quezon City (SPUS Research Manual, 2004), likeeverything else, too much of a good thing ruins the experience and that the basic rule of thumb in writing literature reviews is to keep them long enough to cover the area, but short enough to remain interesting. Omitting relevant literature is a problem, likewise, as an overdone literature review.

Relevant controversial issues should be treated with fairness. Any researcher must not be biased in supporting the findings and conclusions of related studies. Its is worth nothing that not all sources of information and materials visited and read are to be included in the review of literature.

In presenting the review of related literature and studies, the least - related references are discussed first, and the most related are discussed last. This part comprises of at least 6 -15 relevant related literature and studies done in about 2 -3 pages and, properly sequenced in support of the purpose of the study.

Research: Statement of the problem

this part of the study starts with the general problem or the main purpose why the study is conducted. it is, to be followed by the specific problems of the study that support the answer to the main problem.

sa statement of the problem na diniscuss ni sir deri, sinasabi na ano ang gusto natin pag aralan sa topic natin? yun ang dinidiscuss. dapat SMART ang ating statement. tpos ang statement of the problem ay ang pag aaral din ng demographic profile ng isang tao.

demography: study of population
e.g what isthe demographic profile of the respondents?.

1.)course
2.)facilities
2.)tuition
3.)availability of course
4.)quality of teaching
5.) at marami pang iba.

link ng kopya para sa statement of the problem defence natin download at ipaprint nyo to ah, wag pumasok sa thurs ngwala nito. kung may idadagdag pang questions much better i comment lng agad at irere update ko ito.

Research: Title selection

Selecting titles for research study wisely is imperative because writing a research can take many months or even years, so if you don’t select research titles that will help you stay on track, you will end up procrastinating and even give up your degree. So, the question is how to select titles for research. Here are 7 great tips in a snapshot to select good titles for dissertation:

* A research title does not need to be a totally new, groundbreaking, re-write the textbooks revelation. Studying an old subject in a new way, from a different perspective, can be a new contribution.
* The chosen titles for research must be appropriate to your degree.
* Be sure your chosen research title addresses a real problem or question.
* The chosen research title must be appropriate for the subjects you have available to work with.
* Selection of titles should be narrow enough to be manageable; with a study that can be done in the time allotted will always be helpful in completion of your research.
* Your research title must be of genuine interest to you! If not, it will be hard for you to stay motivated over time.
* Ideally, your title should be of interest to your advisor as well.

CHARACTERSITCS OF GOOD RESEARCH TITLES:

* There is an existing body of (academic) literature for you to read.
* It is a subject that lets you to add your own original research.
* It perhaps engages an element of novelty and change.
